LOCAL HEAT
Heat-exposed equipment connections
Mark the cable location relative to the equipment and provide temperature, exposure duration and ventilation.
APPLICATION / Steel, metallurgy & foundries
Equipment wiring outside the hot process.
For protected equipment wiring in steelworks, we start from YGG silicone-sheathed cable: tinned-copper cores under a silicone sheath, 2 × 0.14 mm² to 5 × 10 mm², rated −60 °C (−76°F) to +180 °C (356°F) continuous and +200 °C (392°F) short-term in fixed installation.

AT A GLANCE
Each steelworks connection and the silicone cable we start from.
| Connection | Cable construction | Key point |
|---|---|---|
| Heat-exposed equipment connections | YGG silicone-sheathed cable | +180 °C (356°F) continuous, +200 °C (392°F) short-term at the cable |
| Fixed power and control wiring | YGG, or shielded YGGP where a screen is needed | Up to 20 cores; 300/500 V or 450/750 V versions |
| Moving or exposed routes | Separate cable and installation assessment | YGG allows occasional movement only, without pulling force |
CONNECTION TASKS
YGG silicone-sheathed cable is used in the steel industry for equipment power, control and connection wiring. It is not for molten-metal contact, open flame or furnace interiors.

LOCAL HEAT
Mark the cable location relative to the equipment and provide temperature, exposure duration and ventilation.

ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
Specify the circuit, core count and termination arrangement. Identify any need for an outer screen or extra mechanical protection.
SEPARATE REVIEW
Describe repeated movement, impact or potential process contact. These conditions need a cable and installation assessment of their own.
SELECTION CHECKS
Include these conditions with your enquiry so we can select the right cable.
Continuous and peak conditions where the cable actually runs, including time and ventilation, set the thermal requirement.
Impact, sharp edges, abrasion and any contact with process material decide the protection.
Voltage, current, core arrangement and the equipment's screening or earthing requirements define the construction.

TECHNICAL DOCUMENTS
Product datasheet and quotation checklist.
Construction, applications and size table.
Certification is model-specific; the marks on a datasheet do not replace a certificate.Send a drawing or existing cable specification with the following information.
BEFORE YOU SPECIFY
A steel-industry application does not establish furnace-interior, direct-flame or molten-metal suitability. These uses are not specified in the linked YGG datasheet.
YGGP is the screened cable option listed for these connections. It has a separate construction and size specification.
6 × the cable diameter for fixed installation: 24.6 mm for 2 × 0.14 mm² (4.1 mm) up to 115.8 mm for 5 × 10 mm² (19.3 mm).
