Silicone wire & cable / High-Temperature Silicone Wires & Cables
High-Temperature Silicone Wires & Cables
Silicone cable designs around 180°C (356°F) continuous-temperature requirements.
Choose a single-core lead for internal wiring or a silicone-sheathed multicore connection. Define the continuous temperature first, then select a separate short-time peak target, exposure duration and installation condition.

Temperature conditions
Silicone Cable Temperature Ratings and Heat Exposure
These are project design starting points. The released specification defines the limits for the selected construction, installation and qualification conditions.
| Thermal duty | Concrete design brief | Conditions to establish |
|---|---|---|
| Continuous heat | A 180°C (356°F) continuous-temperature requirement is a practical starting point for silicone equipment wiring. | Select the full conductor/insulation/sheath build and define the temperature at the cable, ventilation and movement. |
| Short-time heat excursion | For a 200°C (392°F), 220°C (428°F) or 250°C (482°F) peak requirement, develop a separately qualified material and cable specification. | Record exposure duration, number of cycles and acceptance after ageing; a peak target is not a continuous rating. |
| Cold installation and movement | State the lowest temperature and distinguish fixed routing from movement at that temperature. | Define the installation radius and inspect the selected construction under its agreed thermal and mechanical conditions. |
Heat & installation
Ventilation, Hot Surfaces and Cable Movement
Equipment temperature alone does not define the cable’s operating conditions.
Enclosures and High-Temperature Ventilation
Identify ducts, enclosures and restricted airflow. The reviewed factory AGR and YGG application notes call for adequate ventilation above 100°C (212°F).
Hot Surfaces and Peak Exposure
Show the cable route and nearby hot surfaces. Include normal and peak exposure time in the application brief.
Fixed Routing, Movement and Tensile Load
State whether the cable is fixed or moving, supported or under load. Review these conditions together with the temperature requirement.
Material & documents
Single-Core and Multicore Designs for Hot Equipment
The material and layer arrangement must be confirmed for the selected product.
Single-Core Silicone Leads for Internal Wiring
Use the factory AGR direction: Class 5 tinned copper with silicone insulation. Define conductor size, voltage, colour, insulation wall and finished diameter for the connection.
Silicone-Sheathed Multicore Equipment Connections
Use the YGG layer arrangement for a multicore connection, selecting the core insulation separately. Add the YGGP overall copper braid when the equipment requires a screened version.
Product Specifications and Fire-Test Requirements
State the required documentation and test conditions. A silicone material description alone does not establish a fire rating or a verified service life.
Custom & supply
Custom cable production and supply for your project
We manufacture custom cables to the agreed project specification. Share your drawing, operating conditions, quantity and delivery destination so we can define the construction, samples and supply terms.
Discuss your specification- Temperature and duration
- State continuous temperature, peaks, exposure duration and the lowest operating temperature.
- Route and construction
- Include ventilation, nearby hot surfaces, core insulation, sheath and dimensional limits.
- Electrical duty and verification
- Specify voltage, movement, required documents, acceptance tests and order quantity.
Packing & delivery

High-Temperature Silicone Wires & Cables: questions before ordering.
How should I specify 180°C (356°F) continuous and a higher peak?
Write the normal cable temperature and a separate peak requirement. A 180°C (356°F) continuous brief can be combined with a project-specific 200°C (392°F), 220°C (428°F) or 250°C (482°F) short-time target, but the peak duration, cycles and qualified construction must be defined in the released specification.
Does ventilation matter?
Yes. The reviewed factory AGR and YGG application notes call for adequate ventilation above 100°C (212°F). Include enclosed or poorly ventilated routing in the application details.
Does a silicone sheath mean the core insulation is silicone?
Check both separately. The YGG factory sheet lists silicone or “Teflon” core insulation with a silicone outer sheath. Confirm the selected version.
Does a temperature rating establish fire resistance?
Temperature and fire-performance requirements must be specified separately. Request evidence for the selected cable and the exact fire test required by the equipment.
